Bihar Cabinet approves Rs 30 Cr. for Advocates’ welfare

Patna, Jan 13 (UNI) The Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday approved an advance of Rs 30 crore to the Bihar Advocate Welfare Trust Committee for strengthening welfare measures for advocates across the state.
After the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Additional Chief Secretary Cabinet Arvind Chaudhary told news persons here that the fund had been sanctioned from the State Contingency Fund. The decision was taken to provide financial assistance to the Trust Committee with the aim of ensuring social security and welfare benefits for lawyers practising in Bihar.
The move is expected to help the committee meet its obligations towards advocates, particularly those in need of support.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of four Law Assistant posts in the Patna High Court on honorarium and contractual basis. In addition, 45 existing Law Clerk posts have been redesignated as Law Assistant posts to strengthen legal support services in the High Court. Further, it approved revisions in the pay structure of Court Managers of Patna High Court and subordinate courts across Bihar.
