Mumbai, Dec 5 (UNI) Maharashtra had earlier approved a major plan to send 10,000 skilled workers and professionals to Germany for employment.
Under this government decision, students from various sectors were to be offered job opportunities in Germany, and a budgetary provision of rupees 70 crore was made to support the initiative.
The funds were earmarked for training candidates and preparing them for overseas employment.
The project involved manpower mobilised through departments such as Higher and Technical Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Industries, Agriculture and Medical Education.
These candidates were expected to be trained and then deployed to Germany. However, despite the approval for 10,000 placements, not a single student has been sent so far, according to recent information.
In this context, German ministers, officials and representatives from the medical sector are scheduled to arrive in Mumbai today to discuss the matter with the state government. Government-authorised recruitment agent Chitra Ubale today said that special efforts are being sought from the state to ensure that deserving students and job-seekers actually receive this opportunity. The state government, however, has not yet issued any response.
With employment opportunities in a country like Germany waiting for nearly 10,000 skilled youths from Maharashtra, questions are now being raised over the government’s apparent indifference towards the initiative.
