Nitish wants early completion of Bihar medical and engineering universities

Patna, Dec 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday directed officials to complete the construction of the Bihar Medical University and Bihar Engineering University buildings at Mithapur at an accelerated pace.
Accompanied by his senior cabinet colleagues and senior officers, Kumar inspected the under-construction buildings. He said both universities were set up to provide high-quality technical and medical education to students of Bihar. He stressed all construction work should be completed properly and without delay.
Kumar said the Mithapur area is developing as an important education hub. Many major educational institutions have already been established here, including Chandragupt Institute of Management, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, NIFT, Chanakya National Law University, and Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian University.
During the inspection, Technical Education Department secretary Dr Pratima S Verma informed the Chief Minister about the progress of the Bihar Engineering University building. Health Department Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh shared details about the construction of the Bihar Medical University building.
The Chief Minister said that Bihar Engineering University was established on July 27, 2022, and five acres of land were allotted at Mithapur in Patna for its building. The main building will have four floors with a total built-up area of 1,11,732 square feet. It will include administrative offices and facilities for students. A guest house with eight rooms and four suite rooms is also being built, along with a caretaker’s residence.
He also said that the Bihar Medical University building is being constructed under the ambitious 'Saat Nishchay-II' scheme to improve medical education in the state. The total area of this building will be 27,567 square metres.
Kumar said completing both projects on time would strengthen higher and medical education in Bihar and benefit students across the state.
