Kolkata, Aug 11 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s helicopter faced two setbacks on Tuesday as a technical glitch delayed its departure from Kolkata and heavy rain later forced it to abandon its planned landing at Midnapore.
The helicopter was scheduled to take off from Kolkata airport in the morning.
However, a technical problem was detected shortly before departure, creating uncertainty over the journey.
Technicians at the airport repaired the fault, following which the helicopter took off for Midnapore at around 11.21 am.
The airport authorities have not yet commented on the cause of the technical problem.
The journey was subsequently disrupted by adverse weather conditions in and around Midnapore.
Heavy rainfall and poor visibility made it unsafe for the helicopter to land at its planned destination.
The flight path was therefore changed, and the helicopter was diverted to Kolaghat.
After landing at Kolaghat, Adhikari continued his journey to Midnapore by road.
The Chief Minister attended an event in Keshpur marking the martyrdom day of freedom fighter Khudiram Bose.

He is also expected to visit Bankura today, where he will hold a meeting with officials from seven districts under the Paschimanchal Unnayan Parishad.
