Kyiv, July 30 (UNI) Ukrainian forces carried out 59 attacks on 16 municipalities in Russia's Belgorod region over the past 24 hours, while air defence units intercepted 97 drones, acting Governor Alexander Shuvayev said on Thursday.

"Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian armed forces carried out 59 attacks on Belgorod region. Thanks to the professional work of air defence crews and the units involved, 97 drones were shot down and neutralised," Shuvayev said.

He said the attacks included eight strikes using multiple launch rocket systems and artillery, along with four instances of explosives being dropped from drones. The strikes targeted Belgorod city and 15 municipal districts.

Shuvayev said a civilian was killed in a strike in the Krasnoyaruzhsky district, while two people, including a child, were injured in Belgorod and the Shebekinsky district. A 15-year-old boy was hospitalised in a specialised department of the regional children's clinical hospital, with doctors describing his condition as moderately severe.

The regional crisis response headquarters said two men also sought medical assistance on Wednesday for blast-related injuries sustained in drone attacks near Belgorod on July 26 and July 29. They were treated and later discharged for outpatient care.UNI AAB
